in-house travel department
ESI’s dedicated in-house travel manager is Paula Murray. She oversees all travel needs for guests and staff of ESI events around in the world, arranging flights, hotels, rental cars, entertainment and more. In a typical year, Murray books more than 1,000 airline tickets at a value of nearly half a million dollars and roughly 9,000 rooms at a cost of about $1.2 million.

More importantly, she takes the job of managing travel logistics out of our clients' hands. Murray and ESI event teams take care of building the website to take reservations, selecting seat assignments on the plane, arranging airport shuttle service, making sure the conference room in the hotel can fit two vehicles, and more.
Murray has more than 20 years of experience in the travel planning industry, she is a Certified Airline Specialist, she has successfully completed the Karrass Effective Negotiating course, and she is certified by the American Society of Travel for Domestic Air Travel, Ground Arrangements and Cruise Ship Travel.
“This is fun stuff,” Murray said. “I really like the people I work with, the customer interaction and the opportunity to make an impact on a program. There aren’t many companies I can think of that have a travel department – for the most part it’s outsourced – but ESI having an in-house travel department is a great sales tool.”
