Challenger SRT8 Goes Under the Microscope
April 9, 2008

Automotive journalists finally got their chance to inspect, probe, examine and, yes, drive the new Challenger SRT8.

Chrysler invited three waves of North American media (20 in each group) to California for the first drive of the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8. The first wave of journalists arrived on Monday, April 7. The program concludes on Friday, April 11.

On Day One, journalists flew into Los Angeles and dined at the Rose Bowl Stadium or the Benson Estate. Day Two began with a Challenger SRT8 presentation at the host hotel, followed by a drive to Hidden Springs Hotel. They then drove to Willow Springs Raceway for lunch and track driving. Journalists returned to the hotel for dinner.

During the program, 18 ESI staff members were responsible for event logistics, including transportation of media and guests to and from the airport and staffing of all program locations. ESI is also managing care, custody and control of all program and support vehicles. Twelve Challengers, 10 courtesy vehicles, 15 support vehicles and five SRT vehicles are being used during the event.

Journalists drove the all-new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8, the vehicle that marks the return of the iconic nameplate as a modern muscle coupe. The limited-edition 2008 Challenger SRT8 features the proven 6.1-liter HEMIĀ® V-8 engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, a race-inspired interior and an exterior design that stays true to the Challenger heritage while delivering a host of modern features and technologies.
